Privacy policy — ClothesOut
Last updated: [publication date]
ClothesOut is an iPhone app that logs the clothes you send to an ironing or laundry service: what you sent, when it came back and what it costs. This page explains what data the app keeps and where.
In short
- ClothesOut has no account and no server of its own. We don’t receive your data.
- Your drop-offs, prices and settings stay on your iPhone and in your iCloud.
- The app has no ads, doesn’t track you and doesn’t send data to analytics services.
Who is responsible
ClothesOut is an independent project by Bruno Monteiro, in Portugal. Contact: support@clothesout.pt.
What data the app keeps
The app keeps on your iPhone:
- the drop-offs you log (date, item types, quantities, prices, notes, return and payment status);
- prices, item types, billing type, pickup and delivery days and currency;
- your name, which appears on the drop-offs you log;
- the avatar photo, if you choose one;
- notification preferences;
- a technical diagnostic log and the crash reports iOS hands to the app (see “Diagnostic data”).
None of this leaves your iPhone, except through your iCloud, as explained below.
iCloud and sharing
The app uses iCloud (CloudKit) to sync data between your devices. The data stays in your iCloud account, which Apple manages. We have no access to it.
If you invite someone to your home, that person sees that home’s drop-offs, prices, names and avatar photos and, if you give them edit permission, can log drop-offs. You decide whom you invite and can remove access at any time. Whoever accepts an invitation keeps that home’s data in their own iCloud.
Without an iCloud account, the app works only on this iPhone and sharing is unavailable.
Notifications
Pickup, delivery and end-of-period reminders are local notifications, generated on your iPhone. They don’t go through any server of ours. You can turn them off in the app’s Settings or in the iPhone’s Settings.
Purchase
Unlocking the full version is a one-time purchase, made and managed by Apple. We don’t see or keep your payment details.
Diagnostic data
To understand what failed when something goes wrong, the app keeps a technical log on your iPhone:
- What it contains: events from a fixed list (for example, “the app opened” or “a drop-off couldn’t be saved”), each with the date and time and, if it was a system error, that error’s code. It contains no names, amounts, notes, photos or the content of your drop-offs.
- Crash reports: when the app crashes or hangs, iOS may hand it a technical report (through Apple’s MetricKit). The app keeps the most recent ones on the iPhone. We don’t use them for anything else.
- Where and for how long: only on your iPhone. The log has a maximum size and the oldest events are replaced by new ones.
- Backups: the log and the reports are excluded from iPhone and iCloud backups.
- Nothing leaves on its own: the app doesn’t send the log to any server.
- Deleting: deleting the app deletes the log and the reports kept on the iPhone.
Because the log can reach us by email, we declare “Diagnostics” on the App Store, for app functionality, not linked to your identity and without tracking.
Reporting a problem
If you tap “Report a problem”, the app prepares an email to support@clothesout.pt with a ZIP attached. The ZIP holds the technical log described above and the stored crash reports. You see the email before sending it, and it only reaches us if you send it. We use the ZIP only to understand and fix the problem you reported.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell or share data with third parties.
- We don’t use advertising or cross-app tracking.
- In the app, we don’t use third-party analytics or crash-reporting services (the website uses Umami, as explained in “This website”). Crash reports come from iOS itself and stay on your iPhone.
Your rights
Because your data is on your device and in your iCloud, you are in control:
- See and export: the data is in the app.
- Delete: deleting the app removes the data from the iPhone, including the technical diagnostic log. To remove it from iCloud, go to the iPhone’s Settings, your name, iCloud, Manage Storage, ClothesOut, and delete the data.
- Remove a guest’s access: in the app’s Sharing.
If you have questions, write to support@clothesout.pt. You also have the right to complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (www.cnpd.pt).
This website
The clothesout.pt website uses Umami to count visits in aggregate: which pages are viewed, from which country and on what kind of device, and three actions (tapping the App Store link, changing language and opening a frequently asked question). Umami doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t keep your IP address and doesn’t follow you across sites. These numbers only help us see whether the site is understood. They aren’t linked to you or to the app.
[Where Umami is hosted and how long the data is kept: to be confirmed.]
Children
The app isn’t meant for children and doesn’t collect anyone’s data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page. Changes to what the app does with your data are announced in the version notes on the App Store.
This English version is a translation of the Portuguese policy, which prevails.
